Preschool Director and Counselor Carrie Cochran Debuts Heartwarming Children’s Book Celebrating Life’s Beautiful Chaos
Celebrated educator and counselor Carrie Cochran is proud to announce the release of her new children’s book, “No Cowboy, No!”. Drawing from over 20 years of experience as a Preschool Director and her deep roots in clinical counseling, Carrie Cochran has crafted a rhythmic, playful story that captures the essence of unconditional love in the face of domestic mayhem.
“No Cowboy, No!” introduces readers to a tiny, white pup whose boundless energy and penchant for mischief turn a peaceful farm into a whirlwind of activity. From shredding toilet paper and knocking over roast beef to chasing alpacas and rolling in mud, the pup’s antics are a relatable reflection of the energetic spirit of childhood. Through the recurring and rhythmic refrain, “No Cowboy, No! Whoa Cowboy, Whoa!”, Carrie Cochran provides a narrative that is as engaging for young readers as it is comforting for the parents who guide them.
The author’s belief in creating this story was rooted in reflecting the reality of family life, often messy, unpredictable, and loud, yet also full of deep joy. With experience working with thousands of children, she emphasizes the importance of young readers seeing characters who make mistakes but are still loved and accepted. She describes the book as a tribute to the “mischievous angels” found in all our lives. Cowboy is an adorable and humorous story based on true farmyard adventures, perfect for children ages 2-9.
The book is beautifully illustrated by David Griffin, whose vibrant artwork brings the farm and its inhabitants to life. It features engaging illustrations and a clever vocabulary lesson, teaching young readers a synonym for “bite” in a fun way. Beyond the humor, No Cowboy, No! serves as a gentle tool for teaching boundaries, empathy, and the importance of patience. Carrie Cochran leverages her master’s degree in School Counseling to ensure the story resonates on an emotional level, helping children understand that love is a constant, even when the carpet is covered in mud.
No Cowboy, No! is more than just a pet story; it is a celebration of the small messes that become big memories. It is an essential addition to any family’s bedtime routine and a valuable resource for educators looking to foster social-emotional growth through storytelling.
